Georgia and Boook Recommendations

Thanks to all who prayed for us last week. Brian finally made it home around midnight Friday night. We had a great day together as a family on Saturday. On Sunday, I brought the kids down to GA to visit some family from TX. It was a long trip but we made it. We are having a good time but I am looking forward to getting home and getting back into our routine. We will be heading home Thursday. We will be starting Kindergarten with our oldest this Fall. We are excited about Homeschooling and are looking forward to this new adventure.

Also, I have been getting some great book recommendations off some of your blogsites. I am trying to get some more. So, please post your favorite books for preschoolers and children. I would love to hear all of your ideas!

We Love "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn. We also picked up some great books at North Point. They are a series called Little Blessings by Kathleen Long Bostrom. The titles are "What is God Like?" "What about Heaven?" and What about the Cross?" They are great for preschoolers.

"Dangerous Journey" is a child's version of Pilgrims Progress, though true to the original. The illustrations are beautiful, though some spots may be a little to scary for young children - you have to use your discretion there. I could put more up but I've gotta make the kids some lunch!

We have so many favorites for preschoolers, I don't know that I could pick just one. I will recommend that you get Honey for a Child's Heart by Gladys Hunt. In it she lists the best preschool and children's books and literature out there. She recommends books for private reading once your kids learn to read and she also recommends good books for the family to read together. She organizes her lists of good books by age, from birth all the way up to 14 years. It is a fantastic resource for what to read and when! I highly recommend it.

Honey for a child's heart is great. I've lost my copy; I'll have to go get a new one.

Veritas Press is a curriculum supplier that I use. They have a wonderful selection of Fine Art books for Kindergarten (my preschooler loved them too) under the Art section. I've been able to get all of them from our local library.

You can order a catalogue or look at the list of books they sell at http:/www.veritaspress.com

When do you start school? I still haven't decided if we're going start in August or Sept.

I have really enjoyed visiting your sight. It is so nice to find other Christian mommies "out there" in this big huge world who hold the same values in life.

I hope you are having a wonderful time with family....

Max Lucado (misspelled name) has some WONDERFUL childrens books.

Hey Jenn,
I am glad that your trip went well. Have you read any of Susan Hunt's books for kids? They are great theologically sound devotional books for young children.
